Federal Metals Inc. is pleased to announce that one of our co-owner, Dan Klufas, has recently been nominated to the Board of Directors of the Canadian Association of Recycling Industries (CARI). Mr. Klufas is representing the Alberta Region on the 12-person board, which consists of 10 representatives from across Canada, one representative from the United States, and the immediate Past Chair. We are proud to have our Calgary scrap metal recycling facility, which services the greater Calgary area including Airdrie, Rocky View, and Black Diamond, represented among such a prestigious industry association.
CARI is made up of over 250 recycling sector member companies. Like Federal Metals Inc., these companies consume, process, and broker an array of recyclable commodities. Some focus on the recycling of materials such as paper, glass, rubber, and textiles while most, including Federal Metals Inc., focus on recycling ferrous and non-ferrous metals. CARI was founded by the Federal Government in 1941 to support the war effort by providing high-quality scrap metals. Since then, the association has evolved to represent and promote both small and large Canadian recycling facilities.
Mr. Klufas has previously spoken at CARI’s 75th annual convention in Ottawa. The event was attended by industry representatives from across Canada and the United States, insurance and consulting professionals, new CARI members, current CARI staff, and former CARI board members and presidents. It was also attended by representatives from the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, CARI’s American counterpart. The event hosted two panels discussing unique scrap industry concerns and challenges as well as many speeches, including the one given by Mr. Klufas of Federal Metals Inc.
Federal Metals Inc. is a family-owned and -operated scrap metal and copper recycling facility in Calgary that provides recycling services throughout Southern Alberta. Our clients from Airdrie and Rocky View all the way to Black Diamond rely on us for scrap metal collection and new metal supplies. Federal Metals Inc. not only collects and processes a variety of scrap metals, we are also one of the most trusted metal suppliers in the Calgary area as well.
We believe that Mr. Klufas makes an excellent addition to the CARI Board of Directors, as our business holds many of the same core values as the association. CARI’s main goal is to promote the beneficial economic and social impact of recycling activities in Canada. CARI and Federal Metals both strongly believe that recyclable materials should not be considered waste, that the recycling industry creates jobs, and that the industry represents a real way forward when it comes to sustainable, eco-friendly development.
Both as a member of CARI and through our own Calgary metal recycling business, Federal Metals Inc. hopes to continue growing and promoting the recycling industry as an environmentally friendly and economically viable solution to many of our current waste and resource problems.
